Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
8:00am-5:30pm, Tuesday-Friday
Registered Vascular Sonographer (RVT).
2+ years experience in non-invasive vascular testing.
Proficient computer skills are required.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Preparation of exam room for patient exam (ie: linen, stretcher, oxygen, supplies, etc.).
Check Physician orders, exam requisition, provide appropriate reason and relevant clinical information for exam using patient's chart/CareConnect and relay to Radiologist.
Research PACS for examination history and previous exams.
Obtains patient history, symptoms, and appropriate labs relating to exam.
Greets and acknowledges patient using two forms of ID comparing patient ID armband to exam requisitions to identify correct patient/exam.
Appropriately handles IV, O2, chest tubes, urine bags, and other patient devices.
Verifies patient pregnancy status in reference to appropriate exam/standards.
Uses proper body mechanics to ensure safety to patient and staff.
Communicates poor etiquette to patients, family members, and other health care team staff.
Demonstrates knowledge of emergency equipment, drugs, and preparedness in response to patient distress.
Transports patient throughout department and hospital safely.
Communicate with staff and other healthcare workers any issue that may affect patient safety and care.
Uses THR philosophy to work in partnership with patients, families, co-workers and physicians.
Flexible with schedules and workload assignments to the changing needs of the department and patient load.
Participates in department quality improvement processes.
Attends and participates in department continuing education meetings and maintains licensures.
Checks hospital and departmental e-mails to stay current on customer and department service issues and to improve communication with all THR employees and entities.
Explains procedures to patient and/or guardian/family member if applicable.
Perform Ultrasound procedures including age-related criteria and developmental considerations.
Process and manipulate images to assure optimum image/exam quality.
Performs all quality control and assurance testing according to TDH and ACR.
Erases Ultrasound machine hard drive frequently to promote optimal machine functionality.
Performs after-hours on-call support for department.
Provides Radiologist with exams for interpretation and appropriate worksheet documentation.
Ensures that exams are properly sent and demonstrated in PACS.
Communicates with Radiologist concerning findings/pathology requiring any escalation in priority.
Minimizes scan time to optimize workflow of department and hospital.
