Qualifications
Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Allen has an immediate need for a Director of Breast Center and Community Health. The qualified candidate will have the following.
Bachelor's degree in business administration or other health related field.
Direct healthcare department management and/or project team management experience. Proven experience managing process redesign projects, including assessment, planning and implementation phases. 5 + years related nursing experience preferred
RN Licensure in the State of Texas preferred
Demonstrated innovative style and approach. Detail focused. Maintains vision for the Breast Center, Women's Services and Education within the overall vision for the Breast Care Program. Must demonstrate an ownership-oriented style and the intent to vigorously pursue the achievement of the Breast Program vision in collaboration with other Breast Care Program leaders and participants. Personal and professional style that facilitates working collaboratively to overcome challenges and barriers (organizational, interpersonal, political, etc.). In-depth understanding of breast care imaging and procedure-related processes and associated efficiency ‘levers' a plus. Expert-level experience with radiological principles, information systems and associated equipment also preferred. Possesses an ability to analyze, understand, and prepare budgets and supporting financial documents. Effectively presents materials to appropriate audiences
Duties
Duties:
• Manage internal department operations to ensure that services are coordinated and outcomes adhere to regulatory requirements, Quality Assurance to designated performance metrics. Coordinate with representatives of other hospital departments to facilitate planning and operational issue resolution. Coordinate with the Department Medical Director and President regarding the resolution of operational issues and issues involving referring physicians and/or other members of the medical staff. • Oversee department staffing, including the development and continuous refinement of staffing schedules based on performance targets, service targets, volume projections and budgetary parameters. Coordinate with the Department Medical Director to ensure appropriate radiologist coverage based on identified targets. Manage staffing-related issues, including overtime, department vacation policy, holiday schedule planning, etc. • Oversee and maintain documentation for regulatory requirements and Quality Assurance and continuous quality improvement programs, • Ensure department performance meets or exceeds set goals as well as customer, referring physicians and other members of medical staff expectations. • Reduce inefficiencies in patient scheduling, registration, examination, procedure, reporting and filing processes. • Reduce wait time in all aspects of women's health care journey. • Responsible for capital and operating budget development and management, including variance identification and resolution. Analyze or assist with the analysis of financial indicators, billing, reimbursement and coding. • Responsible for ensuring that the department meets or exceeds JCAHO, federal, state and other regulatory and accrediting body standards. In collaboration with the Department Medical Director and President establish and revise departmental clinical policies, procedures and protocols as appropriate. Ensure hazardous chemicals are handled and disposed of according to set policies and procedures of facility and Regulatory bodies. • Manage and monitor the assessment and repair of all department equipment. Ensure that preventive maintenance is performed as appropriate. Monitor quality assurance tests for accuracy and completeness. • Coordinate department communication-focused activities, including monthly departmental staff meetings, regular and frequent department leadership meetings and meetings with the Medical Director as appropriate. • Directly responsible for performance appraisals of the department team as identified. Oversee performance appraisals for all department staff. • Provide direct patient care as needed. • Identify, assess, implement and continuously refine internal department performance metrics (based on regional and national best-practices related to service, staffing, process flow and volume as well as other internal operating parameters) in order to be able to identify improvement opportunities and target process enhancements as needed. Achieve optimal service levels in all aspects of the patient journey by identifying, monitoring and enhancing: scope of services, staffing, staff education, patient education and participation, process flow, new technology, space configuration. • Actively initiate and lead department redesign activities, as identified, based on department performance as compared to regional and national best practices as well as other internal operating parameters. Actively review and reevaluate department operations, including but not limited to the following areas: scope of services, staffing levels, facility space, budget, financial performance and program feasibility, technical and non-director employee job descriptions and qualifications/performance evaluation standards. Coordinate department redesign activities with the Department Medical Director, President and their members of the Administrative team. • Develop, implement and continuously refine a Service Excellence-focused plan, based on healthcare and non-healthcare service-related best practices, to ensure that physician, patient and family interactions with department people and processes exceed expectations. Develop and maintain a service-oriented culture in the department in which all employees ‘live the mantra' of Service Excellence. • Coordinate with Breast Care Program physicians to identify, assess and redesign intra- and inter-department processes as needed (i.e., Breast Program Medical Director, radiologists, breast surgeons, medical oncologist, pathologists and radiation oncologists). Customize a 'Best Practice' Breast Care Model using the talents and experience of Breast Care Program physicians, Medical Director, radiologists, surgeons, oncologists, pathologists and radiation oncologists. • Serves as a member of the hospital Administrative team • Attends monthly management and system leadership meetings
