Qualifications
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Requirements - EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED. CHAA certification preferred.
Minimum Requirements - EXPERIENCE: 2 years of hospital admissions experience preferred. Other hospital or physician office experience helpful.
Minimum Requirements - SKILLS: Ability to type, spell, write, or print legibly with general knowledge of personal computers required. Strong interpersonal communication, documentation, and customer service skills required.
Hours/Schedule Information: Monday through Friday 12:00pm to 8:30pm.
Duties
Daily Duties: 1. Customer Service-Greets internal and external customers. 2. Offers assistance to customers appearing in need. 3. Interacts with all customers to establish/maintain high level rapport with emphasis on courteous, tactful, and timely responses. 4. Patient Registration-Accurately gathers, screens & enters patient data using information from patient, family, doctor, and insurance sources. 5. Accurately documents in notes problems and communications with patients regarding billing issues. 6. Assist customers with managed care contract requirements as it applies to registration. 7. Completes demographic information by calling referring facilities on patients to be transferred to facality. 8. Maintaining knowledge of current managed care requirements. 9. Educate families and physicians offices on pre certification/prior authorization requirements on direct/unscheduled/urgent admits or procedures. 10. Documentation- Insures compliance by obtaining valid signatures of the patient, legal guardian/authorized person regarding treatment consents, Patient Self Determination Act and Paitent Rights, Medicare questionnaire, billing compliance, and ethnicity. 11. Obtains copies of valid patient ID and insurance cards at time of registration. 12. Provides facility departments with documents/supplies associated with registration and chart assembly as required. 13. Armbands patients as per policy. 14. Collections- Advises customers of financial responsibility and collects deposits or copays as required by managed care contracts. 15. Escort-Transports patients to servicing department/nursing unit by wheel chair or walking. 16. Assist with caring or transportation of personnel belongs or luggage. 17. Training, Continued Education, and TeamSupport-Attends and participates in department meetings. 18. Cross-trains in all admitting/registration areas. 19. Reviews work for accuracy to ensure that accounts drop clean bills correctly the first time and strict managed care guidelines are followed. 20. Downtime- Manages smooth transition to downtime process without adverse impact on customers. 21. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
