Radiology Services Provided

Diagnostic imaging services offered at Texas Health Plano include radiographic procedures that range from routine chest X-rays to more complicated procedures, such as:

  • X-Ray: Also called radiography, involves exposing a part of the body to a small dose of ionizing radiation to produce pictures of the inside of the body. X-rays are the oldest and most frequently used form of medical imaging, and chest X-rays are among the most common diagnostic examination performed.
  • Arthrography: Used to evaluate the structure and function of a joint and determine the possible need for treatment, which may include surgery.
  • Intravenous pyelography (IVP): Used to examine the urinary tract including the kidneys, ureters and bladder.
  • Barium studies/Upper GI series: Used to examine the gastrointestinal (GI) system, the esophagus, stomach, small bowel and large bowel [link to Barium Enema Examination form].
  • Myelography: Used to detect abnormalities of the spinal canal, cord and nerve roots
  • Lumbar punctures: Used to help detect tumors, or locate areas of inflammation
