What do I do if my adolescent is threatening suicide?
Please take your child to the nearest emergency room for evaluation by a doctor. If you want your child to be treated at the Seay Behavioral Health Center, you may request that he or she be transferred here by the emergency room doctor.
How do I know if my insurance will cover admission?
Presbyterian Hospital of Plano and the Seay Behavioral Health Center accept many insurance and managed care plans.
What insurance coverage is not accepted at the Seay Behavioral Health Center?
We are not a Northstar, Tricare, or Amerigroup provider.
How often will my child see a psychiatrist?
Psychiatrists see inpatient adolescents daily during their stay. They see partial hospital patients five days a week.
How do I know what level of care my adolescent needs?
The Intake and Admissions department will schedule an assessment for your adolescent to be evaluated by a psychiatrist. Call 972-981-8305 for an appointment. Physicians determine the appropriate level of treatment. If your adolescent is experiencing a life-threatening situation, go to the nearest Emergency Room.
What does my adolescent do about school work?
Parents bring homework from their adolescent's school to be completed under the supervision of a certified teacher at the Seay Behavioral Health Center. There is no private school on the hospital campus.
When will I get to see my adolescent receiving inpatient treatment?
At least one parent is expected to attend daily parent support-group sessions at 7:30 a.m. Visitation follows at 8 a.m. We request that only immediate family members visit their adolescent.
How long will my adolescent be in the hospital?
The Seay Behavioral Health Center provides crisis stabilization with the goal to return the adolescent to the home environment as soon as is clinically indicated.
