FORT WORTH, Texas - Harris Methodist Southwest Hospital officials promoted Julius Quinn, R.N., B.S.N., M.H.A., critical care nurse in the progressive care unit, to nurse manager of medical and surgical services. Quinn brings 23 years of nursing and health care management to the position.

In his new role as nurse manager, Quinn will oversee all staffing needs and daily operations for the medical and surgical department. He will establish policies and procedures for staff performance, supervise patient care and evaluate financial requirements for the unit.

Before joining the hospital staff this year, Quinn served as the chief nursing officer at the 24-bed Arlington Rehabilitation Hospital, where he oversaw nursing, quality improvement, risk management, and environmental and dietary services. Prior to that, he was the nurse manager of patient care services at Plaza Medical Center from 2006 to 2007 and was a charge nurse at McBride Orthopedic Hospital from 2004 to 2006.

Additionally, Quinn spent 20 years as the manager/non-commissioned officer in charge in the U.S. Air Force. He was part of the hospital management team that supervised care to U.S. Forces in Operation Enduring Freedom, a multinational coalition military operation to counter terrorism and bring security to Afghanistan.

Quinn received a bachelor of science in nursing from Oklahoma City University in 2005. He completed his graduate degree in health care administration from the University of Texas at Arlington in June and is working toward a graduate nursing degree with a projected completion date of December.

Quinn is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the American Nurses Association and the Texas Nursing Association.
