KAUFMAN, Texas - Presbyterian Hospital of Kaufman (PHK) employees say that the close-knit ties between the community and hospital have kept them coming back for decades of work.

'Our employees make all the difference creating an environment where patient's needs are met and exceeded,' said hospital president Patsy Youngs. 'Long-time employees are particularly important to our hospital because their wealth of experience provides the backbone to provide the best care possible to our patients. Their contributions enable us to better serve the residents of Kaufman and the surrounding areas.'

Rhonda Corder has worked at Presbyterian Hospital of Kaufman for 20 years as a medical records transcriptionist. Corder now works at home and said she treasures the flexibility transcriptionists have found as technology has evolved.

'I love it,' she said. 'I can't think of any other profession I would rather do.'

Medical staff coordinator Sandra Hevener has worked for Texas Health Resources for 20 years, spending the last eight years at Presbyterian Hospital of Kaufman. Hevener even worked at the hospital part-time as a teenager.

'You know everyone more than at the bigger hospitals,' she said. 'You feel like you can develop closer relationships with people.'

Registered nurse Pat Morlock celebrated 30 years with PHK. Also celebrating 20-year anniversaries were: Unit secretary Jeffrey Lynn Council, registered respiratory therapist Robert Eldridge, transcriptionist Thonya Morgan, and Jerry L. Williams.

Including the Presbyterian Hospital of Kaufman employees, Texas Health Resources honored 400 employees with 20 or more years of service and two dozen volunteers, totaling 10,485 years, at a recent banquet.
