The Doctor Is In … the Hospital
The hospitalist program at Harris Methodist Walls Regional Hospital provides personalized, comprehensive medical care, solely dedicated to hospital patients.
Harris Methodist Walls' hospitalists are independently practicing primary care physicians who provide 24-hour-a-day, seven-day-a-week care to patients at the hospital. Hospitalists concentrate their practice only in the hospital and are available for patients who either don't have their own physician or for those whose physician prefers for patient care to be overseen by a hospital-dedicated physician.
Efficient Care
'One of the biggest benefits of being in the care of a hospitalist is that these physicians are here on site. They can access test results quickly,' says Pat Stiver, administrative director of physician recruitment for Harris Methodist Walls. 'Because hospitalists work only in the hospital, they can provide care that is efficient.'
After patients have been released from the hospital, they return to the care of their traditional primary care physician. Patients who don't have a primary care physician can be referred to a community physician for follow-up care.
