Phil Wentworth, Interim President

Phil Wentworth

Phil Wentworth, former president of Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano, assumed the role of interim president at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas upon Mark H. Merrill's departure on May 22. 

Wentworth is no stranger to the hospital. He served as an associate administrator at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas from 1979-92.

Wentworth began his career in health care management as an Assistant Administrator in New York City in 1971. A graduate of Trinity University in San Antonio, Wentworth holds a bachelor of science degree and a master's degree in health care administration. In 1979, Wentworth began working with the Presbyterian Healthcare System and came to Presbyterian Hospital of Plano in 1992, where he served until Feburary 2009.

Wentworth is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE).  In October 2006, he received the American College of Healthcare Executives Senior-Level Healthcare Executive Regent's Award, given annually to recognize ACHE affiliates who are experienced n the field and have significantly contributed toward the advancement of healthcare management excellence and the achievement of the goals of ACHE. He is on the Board of the Dallas Fort Worth Hospital Council, is a member of the Texas Hospital Association Council on Policy Development, past chairman of the Texas Healthcare Association Workforce Committee, and was formerly on the Texas Radiation Advisory Board. 

In the community, Wentworth has been involved with the Collin County United Way, Practical Parent Education, and Boy Scouts of America Explorers Group, formerly as district chairman. He served on the Collin County Child Advocacy Center Board, and is a past-chairman of the Board of Directors of the Plano Chamber of Commerce.  In 2002, he received the prestigious Citizen of the Year award, given annually to an individual whose civic and community involvement merit special recognition.

Wentworth resides in Plano with his wife Susan. Their two children include a daughter, Blair, who resides in Plano, and son, Philip, residing in Wichita, Kansas.
