Electronic Health Record

Texas Health Resources is implementing an electronic health record (EHR) that will provide real-time access to comprehensive health information supporting patient care and evidence-based medicine for the system's 13 hospitals.  This multi-year, multi-million dollar investment in information technology will help Texas Health improve the quality of care in its family of hospitals.

As patients traverse the continuum of care, their attending nurses, clinicians, and doctors on the medical staff will utilize the EHR in an integrated process. EHR will help link initial assessments, care plans, imaging scans, order entries, patient education and discharge instructions. Automated medication alerts and instant access to comprehensive clinical decision support are part of the EHR's patient-centric environment.

Texas Health has worked with multi-entity interdisciplinary groups in this collaborative effort to further its mission to improve the health of the people in the communities it serves. The EHR was first implemented at Presbyterian Hospital of Plano in 2006, with a phased rollout occurring at all other facilities.
