Remarkably, we've been in labor and delivery for 77 years.
Fact is, we delivered our first baby in 1930 and we've welcomed more than 300,000 into the world since then. With more than 6,500 deliveries a year at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth, it's clear that first-time and returning mothers trust us to deliver their babies. And the readers of Fort Worth Child magazine agree, naming us the "Best Place to Have a Baby" each year since 1993. But after more than 75 years, would you expect anything less?
The Center for Women and Infants Health offers a wide range of obstetrical services, including:
Plus, our multi-million dollar redesign of the Helen McKee Ryan Birthing Center and the Jones Tower exemplifies our commitment to bringing advanced technology, innovative surroundings and individual attention to our patients.
The birth process – labor, delivery and recovery – takes place in one of our uniquely designed and soothing private maternity suites. The Birthing Center also houses three Cesarean birth suites, and an anesthesiologist on the medical staff is in the Labor and Delivery area 24 hours a day.
Hyperbilirubinemia Assessment Program
This new program was created to identify newborns at risk for brain damage due to hyperbilirubinemia, a condition commonly known as jaundice. The disorder is characterized by elevated levels of bilirubin in the baby's bloodstream.
Surgical support of infants is available through Cook Children's Medical Center located next door to us and connected by a special corridor.
