Intensive Outpatient Program
At times, emotional difficulties and stressful life situations can be so overwhelming that a person can have trouble facing an average day. The Behavioral Health Intensive Outpatient Program at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas offers an alternative that provides daily outpatient assistance to individuals. The program addresses the physical, emotional, spiritual and interpersonal needs of individuals with emotional difficulties and stressful life situations.
The goal of the Intensive Outpatient Program is to help people either maintain or move toward the least restrictive treatment level possible. People can enter into the program directly from their everyday life or as a transition from hospitalization to home. The program is designed to offer daily support and emphasizes individual treatment planning. Individuals entering the program complete an extensive evaluation process, which allows the healthcare professionals caring for the individual to customize an individualized treatment plan. The program provides people with a safe place to talk, learn problem solving skills and stress reduction techniques.
The program uses a variety of therapeutic methods/approaches, including:
- Cognitive therapy techniques to help create a positive and hopeful outlook of the future
- Group therapy, where individuals share their struggles and hopes
- Life Skills training
The program is dedicated to helping individuals return to a productive and fulfilling life. Life skills emphasized during the program include those relevant to:
