Surgery can be frightening, especially for children. To help prepare them for surgery and alleviate their fears, the Women and Children's Unit offers a Pediatric Pre-Op Party.
Children and their families are encouraged to participate in a tour and demonstration geared to kids of all ages, whether they are preparing for surgery or not. Parties are held at 7 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of each month. Register for this free class by calling 817-848-4935.
The Pre-Op Party consists of a guided tour of the surgical areas the child will encounter, including holding and recovery rooms. Every aspect of the child's process is explained in child-friendly terms and any questions or fears are addressed.
