Success Stories

Rodney Copeland: Back In the Saddle Again
Rodney Copeland has a lot of experience with horses. He and his wife Floe own horses of all sizes — including 21 of the miniature variety. "My wife and I love the equestrian life," he said. "My two daughters and their nine kids really enjoy the horses, too."

Copeland also has a lot of experience with health care — both professionally and personally. A pharmacist, Copeland was diagnosed with Crohn's disease decades ago. So, when he moved to Erath County from San Angelo a few years back, he needed to find a hospital he could count on.

"My doctor recommended a routine colonoscopy and sent me to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Stephenville," he said. "The hospital, the physicians on the medical staff and the people impressed me a lot. The physician put me under anesthesia for the procedure, so I hardly felt anything."

Best of all, the tests showed that Copeland is just fine.

Agnes Wamala: The Best Medicine
Two of Agnes Wamala's favorite things are embroidery and laughter. An Erath County homemaker and mother of two, Agnes always looks on the sunny side of things.

Even when she experienced some potentially serious health problems recently, Wamala remained upbeat. "My doctor ran some tests that showed the possibility of cancer," she said. "Even though my diet is good and there's no history of cancer in my family, he thought I needed to have a colonoscopy."

The procedure was performed on an outpatient basis at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Stephenville. "It's a wonderful place," she said. "I had had surgery there before, and I felt very good about the people and the facilities. From the receptionist to the physicians on the medical staff, everyone was very
comforting."

As it turned out, Wamala's health problem was cleared up with some simple antibiotics. Laughter may be the best medicine after all.

Mary Randals: All-Star Health Care
Mary Randals spends a lot of time watching her favorite sports stars: her grandchildren. "I have seven grandkids," she said, "so I'm always going to soccer, baseball and gymnastics."

When Randals began to experience pain in her stomach recently, she made the right call and consulted a doctor. After examining her, the doctor put her on pain medication and scheduled a follow-up for three months later.

"But the pain just got worse," she said. "So I decided to get a second opinion from a doctor on the medical staff at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Stephenville."

Her new physician recommended the removal of her gallbladder, and she agreed. She felt very comfortable at the hospital: Her husband, Travis, is a registered nurse in the Emergency Department.

"The people were very supportive," she said. "I had outpatient surgery and didn't even need any pain medication. And afterward, I felt a whole lot better."

Looks like Randals has found a winning team.
