Breast Cancer Support Group: Patient meetings provide a special forum in which breast cancer survivors can share experiences with others or simply listen and take comfort from those who know and understand. Breast Cancer Partner Support Group: Partner meetings also provide a special forum in which spouses or significant others of breast cancer survivors can share their experiences. The group is facilitated by a trained male facilitator whose wife is a breast cancer survivor. This group meets at 6:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month at the Breast Care Center of North Texas, 1615 Hospital Parkway, Suite 109.
Dialogue Cancer Support Group: Patients diagnosed with cancer, family members and friends are welcome to attend this support group. Different Strokes Support Group: Support group for people who have had a stroke and their family members and caregivers. La Leche League of Bedford meets at 7:15 p.m. on the second Monday of each month at the Edwards Cancer Center, between the Central Drive and Westpark Way exits on the south side of Highway 183. La Leche League is an international, non-profit, non-sectarian, organization dedicated to providing education, information, support, and encouragement to women who want to breastfeed. Local Vocals: The Local Vocals is an exercise support group for graduates of Lee Silverman voice treatment. This group meets at 6 p.m. on the last Thursday of every month from in the first floor conference room in the Center for Physicial Medicine and Rehabilitation, 251 Westpark Way. Lymphedema Support Group: The Lymphedema Support Group provides an opportunity for individuals to share information concerning lymphedema therapy protocols, nutrition, diet and exercise. Different speakers make presentations on various topics. The goal is to provide participants with information on how to better manage their condition. Individuals with lymphedema, or those who are at risk for developing lymphedema, are encouraged to attend. Mended Hearts Support Group: Sharing experiences with others who have gone through much of the same thing can be an important link in the chain of treatment, recovery and living a healthy lifestyle. Mended Hearts is an education and support group for people and their families who live with heart disease or other heart problems. The group meets every other month. Share: Tears, Hope and Reflection: If you have lost a child due to miscarriage, stillbirth or infant death and want to talk to other parents with similar experiences, this group is here to help. Share meets at 7 p.m. the first Thursday of each month. The meeting room varies, so look for signs or meet in the main lobby and walk with others to the gathering. Memorial services are held at 3:30 p.m. on the first Thursday in January, April, July and October in the hospital chapel. Share is a non-profit organization dedicated solely to the purpose of aiding bereaved parents. It is not a religious organization and welcomes persons of all faiths, regardless of when, where or how you lost your child. The group meetings are facilitated by hospital chaplains and parents who have experienced the loss of a child.
