Volunteer Program
Volunteers are dedicated men and women from all kinds of backgrounds who share a common desire to help others. They get a first-hand look at what goes into high-quality health care through their efforts to comfort patients, provide information to guests and visitors and assist the professional staff. Volunteers typically sign up for a four-hour shift each week and agree to a one-year commitment. Volunteer may choose from four shifts: 7 a.m. to noon, 8 a.m. to noon, noon to 4 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Prospective volunteers must be interviewed by the Director of Volunteer Services. Volunteers are asked to wear a uniform while on duty so that patients, staff members and other volunteers can easily identify them. Uniforms must be purchased at the volunteer's expense. Volunteers are also required to attend orientation and to have a TB skin test.

There are many benefits to becoming a volunteer. In addition to helping others, volunteers have the opportunity to meet new friends, learn new skills, gain new insights and achieve a sense of accomplishment.

  • Information Desk

The active auxiliary has responded to many requests and has funded projects including furnishing the family room in the ER, purchasing a podium for the Education department, providing a portion of the funding for a bladder scanner and supplying a tent for the Car Seat Safety Checks. Auxiliary members who volunteer are utilized in the same areas as volunteers who are not members of the auxiliary.
