At Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Stephenville, we know the birth of a baby is a major event for the whole family. That's why we endorse the concept of family-centered maternity care and are committed to providing the personalized experience you desire for this special event. In keeping with this philosophy, we encourage family involvement in planning and delivering care.
We strive to provide an individualized approach that meets all your needs. We want you to be as comfortable and as secure as possible. If you desire, grandparents and your children are welcome to be present during your labor – but please understand that an adult other than your support person should accompany children. To record this special occasion, cameras and video recorders are allowed during labor and after delivery, with your doctor's approval. We request that you ask staff for their individual consent to be included in your taping.
When your baby arrives, you are welcome to share your baby with family and friends at your convenience. Our flexible visitation policy means it's up to you who visits and when.
You and your baby will recover together in your birthing suite. In most instances, families will spend their entire hospital stay in the suite. Occasionally, the need arises to transfer you and your baby to one of the regular private rooms on our unit. Your recovery will continue with the same quality care from the same caring staff.
On our unit, you and your baby may share a room. Your room will be equipped with everything a nurse or physician would find in a traditional hospital nursery. Your baby's evaluations and examinations may take place in your room, giving you an opportunity to learn your baby's cues with personnel nearby to answer questions and provide education. We also offer a nursery for times when separation is necessary or preferred.
