The Friends of Texas Health Southwest is an advocacy group comprised of business professionals and community leaders for Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southwest Fort Worth. This group provides a link between the hospital and the community in an effort to raise friends, raise funds and most importantly to establish a line of communication.
Spearheaded by Friends of Texas Health Southwest chair Phil Moroneso, Texas Health Harris Methodist Foundation was challenged to raise $240,000 for the Friends of Texas Health Southwest Ladders in Nursing Careers (LINC) Endowment in 2008. These funds would then be matched dollar-for-dollar by Texas Health Resources for a total of $480,000. By the end of year, the goal was met and $275,640 was raised for this endowment thereby guaranteeing support for four nursing students each and every year. The Friends of Texas Health Southwest also raised $52,500 in expendable funds for the LINC program.
Through the years, almost constant changes have occurred in the delivery of healthcare services as well as in the funding of these services. Some of the changes have included rapid advances in new technology, the creation of needed services, and changing levels of state and federal reimbursement. For these reasons, the Friends of Texas Health Southwest was formed to assist Texas Health Harris Southwest Fort Worth in providing strong support so that the tradition of caring can continue.
