The Family Birthplace
The Family Birthplace is as warm and inviting as the family and friends that surround you. Our family-centered environment of care is designed to enhance the birth experience. Spacious labor-delivery-recovery suites comfortably accommodate birthing families and include:
- TV/DVD and CD player
- Free Internet access
- Individual, full-size bathroom
- Custom-contoured bathroom sink for baby’s first bath
- Sleeper chair that converts to a bed for overnight guests
- Food service at your convenience
Newborn Care
Immediate newborn care at your bedside encourages better education and communication, facilitates mother-baby bonding, and reduces interruptions.
The Special Care Nursery provides Level II neonatal care for medically delicate newborns. Dedicated staff members include:
- Neonatologists on the medical staff on call
- Neonatal nurse practitioners available 24/7
- Staff trained in neonatal care

Breastfeeding Resources
Designated “Baby-Friendly” by the World Health Organization, Texas Health Allen provides a comprehensive approach to breastfeeding of newborns. Support at the bedside begins soon after delivery with skin-to-skin contact to encourage breastfeeding — all part of the lactation support system designed to help babies get a healthy start in life.
