Texas Health Winnsboro offers a wide range of imaging services:

  • Bone Density: A bone mineral density (BMD) test can help your health care provider confirm a diagnosis of osteoporosis
  • Computed Tomography (CT): An imaging method that uses X-rays to create cross-sectional pictures of the body.
  • Cryptograms
  • X-raysDiagnostic Imaging (X-ray): A form of electromagnetic radiation, like visible light. Machines send individual X-ray particles, called photons. These particles pass through the body. A computer or special film is used to record the images that are created.
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI): A non-invasive way to take pictures of the body. Unlike x-rays and computed tomographic (CT ) scans, which use radiation, MRI uses powerful magnets and radio waves.
  • Mammography: A mammogram is an X-ray picture of the breasts. It is used to find tumors and to help tell the difference between non-cancerous (benign) and cancerous (malignant) disease.
  • Non-invasive Vascular Testing: A noninvasive procedure does not require any skin incision or the insertion of any instruments or medical devices.
  • Nuclear Medicine Studies: Ionized medicine is injected in to the veins while running on a treadmill. Blood pressure and heart rhythms are monitored closely during the procedures. Images are taken of the heart to check for blockage.
  • Ultrasound: Involves the use of high-frequency sound waves to create images of organs and systems within the body.

MammographyMammography Guidelines
The American Cancer Society recommends the following guidelines for mammography:

  • Yearly mammograms are recommended starting at age 40 and continuing for as long as the woman is in good health.
  • Women at increased risk (for example, those with a family history of breast cancer, genetic tendency and/or past breast cancer) should talk with their doctors about the benefits and limitations of starting mammography screening earlier, having additional tests (for example, genetic assessment, breast ultrasound or MRI), or having more frequent exams.
  • Monthly self-breast self exams are recommended.
