Over the years, Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital has welcomed more than 100,000 infants into the world. In fact, some of those babies have returned to have their babies with us.
One reason women choose Texas Health Arlington Memorial is the family-centered approach to childbirth in the labor/delivery/recovery rooms. We support full participation from fathers. Grandparents and siblings are invited to join the celebration before and after delivery. To make everyone feel at home, each room includes a television, VCR and refrigerator. Features of the Women's and Children's Center include:
- Single-room maternity care
- Perinatal services for high-risk pregnancies
- Specialty care neonatal intensive care unit for premature and critically ill newborns
- Pregnancy, childbirth and parenting education classes
- Prenatal and postpartum exercise classes
- Breastfeeding support
Studies show that breastfeeding is the optimum way to nourish newborns. That's why we encourage new mothers to breastfeed and strive to ensure their success.
Support for breastfeeding at Texas Health Arlington Memorial has resulted in a Texas Ten Step designation from the Department of State Health Services and the Texas Hospital Association. To achieve Ten Step status, a hospital must satisfy several requirements, including availability of lactation specialists, identification of ongoing breastfeeding resources and breastfeeding training for all members of the mother-baby nursing staff.
