OB/GYN Services

Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital has a family-centered approach to childbirth in our labor/delivery/recovery rooms. We support full participation from fathers. Grandparents and siblings are invited to join the celebration before and after delivery. To make everyone feel at home, each room includes a television, VCR and refrigerator. Features of the Women's and Children's Center include:

  • Single-room maternity care
  • Perinatal services for high-risk pregnancies
  • Specialty care neonatal intensive care unit for premature and critically ill newborns
  • Pregnancy, childbirth and parenting education classes
  • Prenatal and postpartum exercise classes
  • Breastfeeding support

Texas Health Arlington Memorial became the fifth hospital in Texas to earn the World Health Organization's "Baby-Friendly" designation, an honor that recognizes a comprehensive approach to supporting breastfeeding of newborns.

The Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative is an international program sponsored by the World Health Organization and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) designed to encourage and acknowledge hospitals and birthing centers that offer an optimal level of care for lactation.

Support for breastfeeding at Texas Health Arlington Memorial has resulted in a Texas Ten Step designation from the Department of State Health Services and the Texas Hospital Association. To achieve Ten Step status, a hospital must satisfy several requirements, including availability of lactation specialists, identification of ongoing breastfeeding resources and breastfeeding training for all members of the mother-baby nursing staff.
