Programs

Support and Activities

  • The Bluebonnet Retreat, presented by Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Hurst-Euless-Bedford, is made possible by funding from the Texas Health Harris Methodist Foundation. The Bluebonnet Retreat is the first camp in Texas designed for adults with cancer and is offered twice each year. The camp experience is free and open to any adult over age 18 who has received a cancer diagnosis or cancer treatment within the past five years. Attendance is limited to 25 campers, and first-time campers receive priority. For information about the next retreat, call 817-848-4889.
  • Breast Cancer Support Group: Patient meetings provide a special forum in which breast cancer survivors can share experiences with others or simply listen and take comfort from those who know and understand. This group meets at 6:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month at the Breast Care Center of North Texas, 1615 Hospital Parkway, Suite 109. For more information, call 817-662-0008.
  • Breast Cancer Partner Support Group: Partner meetings also provide a special forum in which spouses or significant others of breast cancer survivors can share their experiences. The group is facilitated by a trained male facilitator whose wife is a breast cancer survivor. This group meets at 6:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month at the Breast Care Center of North Texas, 1615 Hospital Parkway, Suite 109.
  • I Can Cope is an ongoing educational class for people facing cancer. The group meets the first Thursday of every month at 6:30 p.m. at Texas Health HEB in the Private Dining Room. For more information, call 817-848-4851.
  • Look Good... Feel Better® helps women undergoing cancer treatment look and feel more comfortable with changes in their appearance. This program is offered by the American Cancer Society at Texas Health HEB on the second Monday of every other month from 1 to 3 p.m. For more information or to register, please call 817-848-4716.
  • Lymphedema Support Group is an organization sponsored by Texas Health HEB. The group provides an opportunity for individuals to share information concerning lymphedema therapy protocols, nutrition, diet and exercise. The goal of the Lymphedema Support Group is to provide participants with information on how to better manage their condition. Individuals with lymphedema, or those who are at risk for developing it, are encouraged to attend.   • National Cancer Survivors Day is annually celebrated the first Sunday of June at Texas Health HEB in the Edwards Cancer Center.
  • Nutrition, Exercise, and Attitudes for Tomorrow (N.E.A.T.) is an exercise program designed to help you cope with the effects of treating breast cancer. All of the classes are led by trained, health care, fitness experts from the Texas Health Fitness Center HEB. For more information or to register, call 817-267-9191.
  • The Texas Health Springwood Program for Women at our sister hospital, Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital, addresses depression co-occurring with a cancer diagnosis by focusing on therapy and education.
