Diabetes

Staff

The Diabetes Education team is made up of program educators who each bring their unique strengths to the program.

Courtney Assir, R.D., L.D., C.D.E., has been a certified diabetes educator since 2000. Courtney came to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Hurst-Euless-Bedford from Atlanta, where she worked with a large children's diabetes program. She is also a certified insulin pump trainer.

Leslie Crawford, R.D., L.D., earned her Clinical Dietetic degree form the Oklahoma University Health Sciences Center.  Leslie brings her experience from inpatient nutrition counseling primarily in the renal and diabetes specialty areas.  She is currently working toward earning her C.D.E.

Vicki Kussmaul, R.D., L.D., has worked for Texas Health Resources for more than 10 years. She brings experience from inpatient care, cardiac rehab and outpatient nutrition counseling. She is currently working toward earning her C.D.E. 

Carol Lowery is the administrative assistant. She has been with the Center for Diabetes Education since 2002. She provides support to the program manager, clinical coordinator and the diabetes educators. Carol came to Texas Health HEB from a medical center in Oklahoma, where she managed the support services in the cardiology department.

Shawn Tindell, R.N., B.C., is the program manager. She received her bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington. Her specialties include nursing professional development and medical and surgical nursing. She is board-certified by the American Nursing Credentialing Center in both areas. She has been at Texas Health HEB for more than 20 years.

Linda Wood, R.D., L.D., C.D.E., has been a certified diabetes educator since 2001. She is also a certified insulin pump trainer.
