Physical Therapy

Texas Health Finley Ewing Cardiovascular & Fitness Center Dallas offers a supportive and encouraging environment for preventative programs and physical therapy services for individuals recovering from illness or surgery. Licensed physical therapists determine each patient's needs and develop a plan to integrate fitness activities and total health management with the goal of increasing overall function in the community and at home.

Land Physical Therapy
The personalized treatment plan focuses on increasing flexibility, strength, balance and activity tolerance, and decreasing pain. The spacious facilities and friendly, comfortable environment provide the right atmosphere for successful physical therapy. Plus, the Fitness Center is backed by Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas. Physical therapy services require a physician referral and are available for members and nonmembers.

Aquatic Physical Therapy
Aquatic physical therapy is a program designed to help patients maximize their physical function through exercise in a pool. The effect of water combined with therapeutic aquatic exercise helps increase joint mobility, muscle strength surrounding affected joints and overall exercise tolerance. Typically, people who experience difficulty exercising on land will find that water allows them to exercise more easily and improve their functional activity level.

Aquatic physical therapy is provided in the heated, SwimExÒ aquatic therapy indoor pool. Swimming ability is not required. A heated (84 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit) indoor, five-lane, 25-yard, 4-foot deep pool is available to individuals who choose to join the CVC membership following completion of physical therapy.

Pulmonary Physical Therapy
Pulmonary physical therapy is a multidisciplinary program in which breathing principles are emphasized during therapeutic exercise and functional activities. The goal of the therapy is to help stabilize or reduce the symptoms of pulmonary disease and improve the individual's quality of life. Oxygen saturation levels are monitored during therapy.

Participants in pulmonary physical therapy typically have had recent lung surgery or the following diagnoses: COPD, asthma, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, interstitial lung disease, cystic fibrosis, restrictive lung disease or neuromuscular disorders.
