Lahoud is administrative director for value realization in Texas Health’s Innovative Technology Solutions division. Her responsibilities include strategic planning, governance activities and the centralized Project Management Office for IT operations for Texas Health, one of the nation’s largest faith-based, nonprofit health systems.
“We’re honored, but not surprised, at Nanda’s selection as ‘One to Watch’ among IT leaders,” said Stephen C. Hanson, FACHE, senior executive vice president for system growth and integration. “The inspired work of Nanda and her colleagues in our IT division is absolutely critical in helping Texas Health serve North Texan’s health care needs.”
“Nanda leads through her energy, passion and vision. Her ability to think strategically while operating effectively has been a tremendous asset to our IT team as we serve our hospitals and patients,” said Texas Health CIO Edward Marx, who nominated her for the award.
Lahoud was recognized for leadership and innovation on several high-profile initiatives at Texas Health. These include a strategic planning process for the IT division that ensured alignment with Texas Health’s goals. The process redesign was featured at the annual national conference of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS).
Lahoud also led training for Texas Health’s electronic health record implementation from initial planning through successful go-lives at the first three hospitals at which the system was implemented, a project that gained health care industry national recognition.
Additionally, she managed the development for a new strategic initiative for ambulatory physician engagement and health information exchange, an important initiative for helping align independent, community-based physicians with Texas Health.
“Nanda leads her team by example to embrace change, be it the use of social media or effective telecommuting. She is a wonderful mentor to employees throughout Texas Health. Employee satisfaction results consistently demonstrate her exemplary leadership,” said Marx.
Lahoud has more than 25 years experience in IT and health care, including 16 years at Texas Health. She earned certification as a Project Management Professional from the Project Management Institute, and has been recognized by HIMSS as a Fellow and Certified Professional in Healthcare Management Systems.
She earned a master’s degree in software engineering and bachelor’s degree in business administration, both from Texas Christian University.
The CIO Ones to Watch awards are sponsored by the CIO Executive Council in cooperation with CIO magazine. Applications were judged by a panel of 30 CIOs from a variety of industries.
The list of the 2011 CIO Ones to Watch is included in CIO magazine’s May 1 issue.
The awards will be presented May 2 at the CIO Leadership Event in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
