Texas Health Resources Partners with American Heart Association for Go Red for Women Campaign
07/01/2011

ARLINGTON, Texas — Heart disease is the number one killer among women over the age of 20. It kills one woman per minute, taking more lives than the next four causes of death combined.

To help raise awareness of this disease — and help raise money to fight it — Texas Health Resources has joined the Tarrant County and Dallas Divisions of the American Heart Association (AHA) as the cause sponsor for the 2011 Go Red for Women campaign. Go Red is the AHA’s nationwide movement that celebrates the energy, passion and power of women to band together and wipe out heart disease.

Texas Health and the AHA will work together throughout the year to not only educate women on their greatest health threat, but to also help them understand what lifestyle changes they can make to improve their heart health.

“The AHA’s Go Red for Women movement has done a lot to raise awareness of this deadly disease and we are proud to be their cause sponsor,” said Doug Hawthorne, CEO of Texas Health Resources. “The AHA and Texas Health are a natural fit as we work together to raise funds to find cures for heart disease.”

Kim Slone, Senior Vice President of North Texas for the American Heart Association commented: “The American Heart Association is thrilled to partner with Texas Health Resources for the Go Red for Women movement. This affiliation will help educate and save lives of the women in our community; making this a very exciting year for heart health in North Texas.”

The partnership begins July 1.
