ARLINGTON, Texas — Administrators at Texas Health Heart & Vascular Hospital Arlington appointed Sherri Emerson, RN, MSN, as the facility’s first chief operating officer. Emerson brings more than 23 years of clinical and operations experience to the growing physician-led hospital, which offers advanced services for the diagnosis and treatment of heart and vascular conditions and is located on the campus of Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital.

In her new role, Emerson will be responsible for daily hospital operations, policies and procedures; decisions that govern hospital-wide services; and programs that provide support and direction to the delivery of patient care. She will also serve on the senior executive team of Texas Health Arlington Memorial.
Previously, Emerson served as chief nursing officer at Ennis Regional Medical Center in Ennis, Texas. Prior to that, she held the chief executive officer and chief nursing officer positions at Austin Surgical Hospital from 2008 until 2010. She also served as the surgical hospital’s chief operating officer from 2006 to 2008 and the vice president of clinical services from 2003 to 2006. She held leadership positions at the Heart Hospital of Austin from 1998 until 2002. She spent 11 years caring for patients at the bedside, including seven years in cardiovascular intensive care and heart transplant units.
Emerson holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing and a master’s degree in nursing administration from the University of Texas at Austin. She is currently enrolled in the Florida Institute of Technology’s Master of Business Administration in Finance program.
