On Wednesday, May 9, Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Cleburne will collaborate with the Black & White Gala and Friends of Texas Health Cleburne to sponsor the Pink Bag Lunch & Women’s Health Forum. The annual event will take place at the Cleburne Conference Center from noon to 1 p.m.

Sports dietitian Amy Goodson, M.S., R.D., CSSD, L.D., with Texas Health Ben Hogan Sports Medicine, is this year’s guest speaker. She will discuss the importance of being a “Fit and Fabulous Woman” by emphasizing five key steps.

“My goal is to make nutrition easy — something they can do every day that fits into their lives and busy schedules,” Goodson said. “I love educating women on health and nutrition, because so many are confused by the mixed messages they see and hear on a daily basis.”

If history repeats itself, the Pink Bag event will draw more than 300, a sign that females are concerned about improving their health. And Texas Health Cleburne, along with all Texas Health Resources facilities, are committed to providing women with a continuum of care.

“Whether a woman needs to address breast cancer, have gynecological surgery or welcome her newborn into the world, Texas Health Cleburne is privileged to provide women’s services to those in Johnson and Tarrant counties,” said Blake Kretz, FACHE, hospital president. “Events such as the Pink Bag luncheon allow us to interact with community members and extend health care education outside of our hospital walls.”

Goodson agreed. For more than five years, she has been with Texas Health Ben Hogan Sports Medicine and enjoys offering information that women can use to improve their overall health. “I want them to see that nutrition does not have to be difficult; it just takes a little effort and awareness,” Goodson said.

Along with the lunch, attendees will receive a free gift as well as informational items about upcoming Texas Health Cleburne events and programs sponsored by the Black & White Gala.
