Harris Methodist Erath County Employees Celebrate Decades of Service|
STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Harris Methodist Erath County Hospital employees say that the close-knit ties between the community and hospital have kept them coming back for decades of work.
“Our employees make all the difference in achieving an environment where every patient’s needs are met and exceeded,” said Christopher Leu, HMEC president. “It is through their contributions that we’re able to serve the residents of Stephenville and the surrounding areas.”
Paula Hymer, R.N., said that working at the hospital has been a good move. She recently celebrated her 30th anniversary at HMEC. Hymer works in womens’ services, which includes labor and delivery and the nursery.
“I have people that I have helped to deliver all four of their children back to 1981,” she said.
Hymer said it’s rewarding when people remember her from past deliveries or when she recognizes someone she helped to deliver returning to have his or her baby there.
Linda Henderson has worked at HMEC for 25 years, the last 20 in the role of director of human resources.
“(Texas Health Resources) is an excellent employer, as well as healthcare system, and our benefits program wins hands down,” Henderson said. “Our hospital and community are a close-knit bunch and it’s interesting to see and know co-workers around town.”
HMEC and Texas Health Resources also recognized volunteers for their long-time service. Celebrating 25 years as volunteers were Gwen Beck, Meldeene Elliott, and Lillie Gibson. May Ruth Jackson also celebrated 20 years of volunteering with the hospital.
Overall, THR honored 400 employees with 20 or more years of service and two dozen volunteers, totaling 10,485 years, at a recent banquet.
