National Safety Score Initiative Recognizes Four Texas Health Resources Hospitals|
ARLINGTON, Texas — Texas Health Resources hospitals in Plano, Fort Worth, Azle and Hurst-Euless-Bedford earned national recognition for excellence in patient safety from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit run by employers and other large purchasers of health benefits.
The Leapfrog Group’s Hospital Safety Score initiative graded more than 2,600 general acute care hospitals nationwide on overall capacity to keep patients safe from injuries, medical and medication errors, and infections. Facilities were assigned a grade from A through F. Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano, Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth, Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Azle and Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Hurst-Euless Bedford earned “A” scores, meaning the hospitals are among the best in the nation at keeping patients safe.
“This score represents our commitment to making patient safety and quality improvement top priorities,” said Linda Gerbig, vice president of performance improvement for Texas Health. “We’re pleased to be recognized on a national level for our efforts.”
Scores were calculated under the guidance of a panel of patient-safety experts using 26 measures of publicly available hospital safety data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, and the Leapfrog Hospital Survey.
Scores for all 2,600 hospitals graded through the initiative have been published at hospitalsafetyscore.org.
