The critical care units focus on acutely ill patients at high risk for possible life-threatening health problems, while the telemetry units work to provide for faster and better treatments by detecting early warning signs through the use of electronic patient monitoring. Keeping in close contact with the nurse managers and supervisors, Hagerty will look for ways to continually advance the overall quality of care throughout the department at Texas Health Arlington Memorial.
Hagerty has 16 years of nurse management experience and previously served as nurse manager for post gastroenterology, genitourinary and bariatric surgery units at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas. Before joining Texas Health in February 2011, Hagerty held several managerial positions at various health care facilities across the Dallas area.
“No matter my position, I have always described my role as being both a patient and nurse advocate,” said Hagerty. “I also embrace Texas Health’s focus of addressing the overall well-being of individuals. If I can, I want to help patients and employees have a happy, healthy and productive outlook on life.”
As Texas Health Arlington Memorial’s new critical care director, Hagerty wants to enhance the overall patient experience by consistently addressing the needs of patients. “To accomplish this, it’s imperative that we promote and maintain a competent, engaged nursing staff,” Hagerty said.
Hagerty received her nursing diploma from the New England Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Boston, Mass. She later earned both her bachelor’s and master’s in nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington. In 2006, she became a member of Sigma Theta Tau, an international nursing honor society and the Association of Nurse Executives (AONE).
Hagerty and her husband, Fran, have been married 34 years and have three grown daughters.
