Mammo Mania Coming to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano

PLANO, Texas — Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano is launching Mammo Mania this month to help make mammograms fun and catch the disease early in North Texas women.

On Oct. 23, women can schedule mammograms from 7 a.m. to midnight at the Sue A. deMille Women’s Diagnostic Center. Entertainment and refreshments will be provided from 4 to 8 p.m. To register, call 972-981-4070 and press option 4.

The center offers digital mammography and tomosynthesis, a new type of 3D mammography that helps doctors better diagnose breast cancer in women with dense breast tissue.

The American Cancer Society estimates that last year nearly 230,000 cases of invasive breast cancer were diagnosed in women.

“Remembering to get an annual mammogram is a crucial decision for women to make,” said Dr. Patricia Krakos, a radiologist on the hospital’s medical staff. “It’s so easy for women to delay their mammograms due to other obligations, but it really is our best defense against breast cancer. It’s so important for women not to delay the test.”

Women who wear pink to the event will be eligible for door prizes. The Breast Oasis Charity also will be accepting new bras for women who cannot afford them.

If you can’t attend Mammo Mania, visit to take a short breast cancer risk assessment.
