Texas Health Springwood Opens Behavioral Health Center in Uptown Dallas
05/13/2013

BEDFORD, Texas — The Uptown neighborhood of Dallas is known for its shopping and entertainment opportunities within easy walking distance. Neighborhood residents now have convenient access to comprehensive behavioral health care services through Texas Health Springwood Center Uptown Dallas.

The center is operated by Texas Health Springwood Hospital Hurst-Euless-Bedford, a premier provider of behavioral health care operated by Texas Health Resources. The Uptown Dallas center offers counseling services that include complimentary private consultations, as well as programs specializing in specific populations such as lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender; young adults (ages 18-25); adults; adolescents; and working professionals.

“Our facility is the only behavioral health center of its kind in the Uptown neighborhood,” said Ramona Osburn, FACHE, vice president of behavioral health for Texas Health. “We developed services for specific needs faced by Uptown residents.”

Texas Health Springwood Center Uptown Dallas offers services for people challenged with behavioral health issues such as depression, addictions, anxiety, chronic pain, bullying, bipolar conditions, workplace and academic stress, and family conflict. The center features 10 counselors, including psychologists and social workers.

Patients at the Uptown center are offered a comprehensive private consultation to assess the level of treatment needed. If appropriate, intensive group counseling or individualized therapy is offered. All treatment provided is on an outpatient basis and is designed to help participants balance their treatment requirements with work, education and home-life schedules.

“It’s often highly beneficial to get people to talk about issues in a peer group and learn how others are dealing with similar issues,” Osburn said.

The center provides referrals for psychiatrists when necessary for the medication management piece of patients’ therapy.

Texas Health Springwood Center Uptown Dallas is one of five outpatient centers operated by Texas Health Springwood. The Uptown Dallas center is the first Springwood facility to offer individualized therapy.

“We partner with physicians and other mental health providers to meet the health needs of the communities we serve,” Osburn said. “People like to be treated in their own communities, and we’re privileged to be able to serve Uptown residents.”

The Uptown center is located at 2929 Carlisle Street, Suite 300, at Carlisle and Turtle Creek Boulevard near the Katy Trail. To make an appointment, call 214-345-2942.
