Moms Group Donates Gifts to Texas Health Plano NICU, Antepartum Patients|
PLANO, Texas — Being on bedrest in the hospital or knowing your baby is in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is tough. That’s why this Mother’s Day, instead of getting pampered, Dallas Preemie Parents organized a mom-to-mom gift exchange at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano — for Moms facing those medical challenges this holiday, from Moms who have previously been in their place.
“The donations provided a nice reminder to our NICU moms and moms-to-be that others have walked in their shoes before and encouragement along this journey,” said Michelle Kelly, R.N., NICU manager who organized the project with Dallas Preemie Parents.
A total of 16 Moms donated 37 gifts for Moms spending part or all of Mother’s Day in the hospital.
“We want to support all of our moms and allowing former NICU moms to give back is one way we are supporting them,” said Jacqueline Fox, who founded the local group and organized this first Adopt-A-Mom event.
