Texas Health Plano Earns Top Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group|
PLANO, Texas — Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano earned an “A” grade for patient safety, according to the latest Hospital Safety Scores from The Leapfrog Group. The organization, a national watchdog on the quality and safety of hospital care, used publicly available quality and safety measures, as well as leadership commitment to creating a safe environment for patients, to come up with the letter grade.
Nationally, only about a third of the 2,539 hospitals scored were ranked “A.” Eleven Texas Health Resources hospitals received the top grade, including Texas Health Plano.
“We are very proud at Texas Health Plano to be recognized by the Leapfrog Group,” said Mike Evans, R.N., M.S.N., president at Texas Health Plano. “Our “A” rating reflects our care team’s tireless work to provide the best possible care to our patients.”
“As Texas Health carries out our mission of improving the health of the people in the communities we serve, we place a high emphasis on the quality and safety of the care we deliver,” said Dr. Daniel Varga, chief clinical officer and senior executive vice president for Texas Health. “This means being transparent and accountable for our quality and safety. We welcome public report cards such as the Leapfrog rankings."
Calculated under the guidance of The Leapfrog Group’s eight-member Blue Ribbon Expert Panel, the Hospital Safety Score uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to produce a single score representing a hospital’s overall capacity to keep patients safe from infections, injuries, and medical and medication errors.
Individual hospital scores can be viewed at the Hospital Safety Score website, hospitalsafetyscore.org.
