In his role, Ludwig will assist the chief nursing officer with day to day operations focusing on the emergency department as well as overseeing patient throughput processes.

“We are so pleased to welcome Michael to our nursing and leadership teams,” said Denise Claussen, chief nursing officer at Texas Health Kaufman. “His extensive knowledge in emergency and surgical nursing will be beneficial to both our patients and the work of our care teams.”

Ludwig has more than 18 years of health care experience, including nine in significant leadership positions. He comes to Texas Health Kaufman from Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, where he worked in the emergency department for several years before his promotion to director of inpatient surgical services. Originally from New York, he began his career as a paramedic in 1989.

“As I return to the adult health care environment I’m eager to work within a faith based hospital system,” Ludwig said. “I look forward to working with this dedicated group here at Texas Health Kaufman and continuing to provide quality care to the community.”

Ludwig lives in The Colony with his wife Lori and three children — Courtney, Andrew and Zachary. In his spare time he enjoys teaching martial arts.
