PHP Donates Space for North Texas Komen Affiliate|
PLANO, Texas — Presbyterian Hospital of Plano has donated the use of newly refurbished office space in its attached medical office facilities to the North Texas Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
“We are pleased to be able to provide working space for this organization dedicated to the fight against breast cancer,” said Philip M. Wentworth, president of Presbyterian Hospital of Plano (PHP). “Their commitment to the North Texas community is similar to ours in helping prevent and treat disease, and educating the public in regards to better ways of prevention and early detection.”
Last year, the North Texas Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, founded in 1991, granted more than $800,000 to local medical facilities and community organizations that provide innovative outreach and awareness programs for medically underserved women in Collin, Denton and Grayson counties. This year, it will provide and estimated $1 million in grant funds for organizations in the three-county area.
“We are thrilled to have the office space donated by Presbyterian Hospital of Plano, as we have not had permanent office facilities since last summer,” said Jennifer Hernandez, board president of the North Texas affiliate. “Having office space provided allows us to put more money back into the cause and continue our fight against breast cancer here in North Texas.”
The North Texas Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure is one of more than 125 affiliates of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the world's largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. The Komen North Texas Race for the Cure®, scheduled for June 7 at EDS Global Headquarters in Plano, is its signature fund-raiser.
The organization's new offices are located in the Presbyterian Hospital of Plano Medical Office Building 1, Suite 312, 6200 W. Parker Road, Plano, 972 378-4808, www.komennorthtexas.org.
