05/16/2003
WINNSBORO, Texas – The Wound Care Center at Presbyterian Hospital of Winnsboro recently was named a mentor site by Curative Health Services – a recognition given to the top wound care centers in the United States. Curative Health Services, the leading disease management company in the field of chronic wound care, manages the Wound Care Center at Presbyterian Hospital of Winnsboro.

To receive the mentor designation, the Wound Care Center had to meet a number of strict criteria, including an 88 percent or higher rate of healing after completion of treatment and less than 45 days average to healing. As a mentor site, the Wound Care Center will provide training for physicians and staff from around the country new to the Wound Care Center model of care.

The Wound Care Center at Presbyterian Hospital of Winnsboro also recently received an award from Curative Health Services for Best Overall Teamwork in the company’s Southwest Region, which includes eight states.

"I am extremely proud of the dedication of the Wound Care Center employees and the medical director of the center, Dr. Alberto Dela-Cruz, who provide personalized care and education to help meet patients’ needs," said Dan Noteware, president, Presbyterian Hospital of Winnsboro. "These awards recognize excellence in living out the hospital’s mission of improving the health of the people in the communities it serves."

The Wound Care Center at Presbyterian Hospital of Winnsboro provides care and education for patients with chronic non-healing wounds. A team of health care professionals at the Wound Care Center works with the patient’s primary care physician to provide comprehensive wound care management. Physicians who practice at the Wound Care Center can often care for wounds that have resisted healing for months and even years of traditional care.

Presbyterian Hospital of Winnsboro is a 50-bed hospital serving the residents of Wood, Franklin, Hopkins, Rains and Camp counties. The hospital offers a wide range of services including general surgery, cardiac rehabilitation, a 24-hour emergency department and the only hyperbaric unit used for wound care in East Texas.
