Presbyterian Hospital of Kaufman to Host Blood Drive on Oct. 24|
KAUFMAN, Texas — A week before Halloween and they’re after your blood! Donations, that is.
Presbyterian Hospital of Kaufman will host a blood drive to help boost the blood supply in Kaufman County. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 24, in partnership with Carter BloodCare. Donations will be taken in the Community Room, located to the left of the main entrance of the hospital.
Why donate? Every two seconds someone in the United States needs blood, according to the American Red Cross, but only five percent of the eligible population gives blood each year.
Blood is needed for emergencies, people who have cancer, blood disorders, sickle cell anemia and other diseases, according the Red Cross.
Anyone in the community who is 17 years old or older, weighs at least 110 pounds and is in good health is welcome to donate blood. Donors must bring photo identification to participate.
“Blood drives are crucial for keeping the blood supply level to help patients with chronic diseases and those in emergency situations,” said Pat Jackson, community outreach representative for Presbyterian Hospital of Kaufman. “Residents of Kaufman and the surrounding areas are always generous with our blood drives and we look forward to another successful effort.”
Individuals may make an appointment or simply walk in the day of the event. For more information prior to the event or to make an appointment, call 972-932-7286.
