HMWR President Blake Kretz Earns Fellow Status in ACHE|
CLEBURNE, Texas -Blake Kretz, FACHE, president of Harris Methodist Walls Regional Hospital (HMWR), recently advanced to Fellow status in the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), an international professional society of 30,000 healthcare executives.
"We are proud of Blake for reaching this milestone in his career," said Barclay Berdan, senior executive vice president of system alignment and performance for Texas Health Resources, HMWR's parent organization. "By earning his Fellow status, he demonstrates his commitment to his profession and his community."
To obtain Fellow status, candidates must demonstrate their education, experience and leadership in the health care field for several years. They must also complete case studies or a thesis on a health care management topic or participate in a year-long mentorship project.
Fellow status is the highest level of professional achievement in ACHE. In fact, only 7,500 health care executives hold this distinction.
"Because health care management ultimately affects the people in our communities, it is critically important to have a standard of excellence promoted by a professional organization," said Thomas C. Dolan, PhD, FACHE, CAE, president and chief executive officer of ACHE. "By becoming an ACHE Fellow and simultaneously earning board certification from ACHE, health care leaders can show that they are committed to providing high-quality service to their patients and community."
Kretz joined Texas Health Resources in 2007 as president of HMWR. He was previously with Graham Regional Medical Center in Graham, Texas, where he served as administrator and CEO. Prior to that, he was chief operating officer at Graham Regional for a year and held administrative leadership roles at HCA St. Mark's Hospital in Salt Lake City from 1992-95.
Kretz also has hands-on experience in the medical profession as an orthopedic physician's assistant at Lewisville Orthopedic Associates in the Metroplex from 1985-90.
Kretz is a native Texan and a graduate of Harlingen High School and Abilene Christian University. He has a master's degree in health care administration from Trinity University in San Antonio.
