Presbyterian Hospital of Plano Has Three 'Top 25 Rad Tech' Winners
11/12/2008

PLANO, Texas — Three radiologic technologists at Presbyterian Hospital of Plano (PHP) have been named to the Top 25 Radiologic Technologists in North Texas by the North Texas Radiologic Technologists Society.

PHP’s Todd Oliver, Janet Benton and Sandra Adams were honored at a recent luncheon coinciding with National Radiologic Technologist Week. The “Top 25 Rad Techs” in North Texas are selected for their overall job performance, special efforts, and community, civic and professional involvement.

“These three technologists continually demonstrate clinical and technical excellence, and the utmost professionalism in their interactions with both patients and staff,” said Michael J. Putman, PHP’s director of radiology. “This honor is bestowed on technologists who excel clinically and go the extra mile in improving hospital and departmental performance, as well as are active in community, civic and professional development.”

Oliver, CT lead tech, has been with PHP since 1993 and is responsible for guiding the department in performing up to 80 CT exams per day, operating G.E. 16- and 64-slice CT units. Oliver was born and raised in Michigan, graduating from Lansing Community College in 1988. He and his wife, Jimmie, are active in numerous of their church’s outreach projects, including having helped rebuild homes in both New Orleans and Houston.

Adams is a registered CT technologist, as well as diagnostic radiologic technologist. She is past president and current secretary of the Radiology CPM team, which works with staff to solicit improvement ideas and concerns, and relay them to management.

She coordinated with Habitat for Humanity and Reach Out THR for the radiology department’s participation in two Habitat buildings in 2007, and was an integral part of this year’s Habitat efforts, which earned the radiology department Texas Health Resources Community Service award.

Benton, radiologic technologist, earned a bachelor’s degree in management science and computer systems from Oklahoma State University in 1983. She earned her associate of applied science degree in radiological science from Brookhaven College in 2007, the same year she joined PHP. She is proficient on numerous types of radiography equipment and software, and was voted Radiology Employee of the Month by her peers in August 2007, November 2007 and April 2008.

Benton played a significant role in helping the department earn the Texas Health Resources Community Service award earlier this year. She also has worked with her church to mentor youths in South Dallas, as well as to distribute back packs and school supplies.

“We are proud of each of these individuals for the contributions they make to our hospital and our patients, as well their strong involvement in community events,” said Philip M. Wentworth, PHP president. “It is an honor to worth with such top professionals on a daily basis.”
