The Black-Tie Gala attracted nearly 300 people and raised $40,000. The Nov. 8 event at the
Hilton Anatole in Dallas marked the first time that the Kaufman hospital had turned to a
black-tie event to help raise money.
“The community really gathered together to support the hospital and in particular to
help fund the growth of the Women’s and Children’s Services Department, which
has seen volumes more than double in recent months,” said Norma Fortner, gala
chairwoman. “We’re thrilled with the turnout in our inaugural effort. I’d
like to thank everyone who attended and helped make this possible.”
The gala benefited the women’s services area of the hospital, which experienced
tremendous growth after additional obstetricians/gynecologists moved their practices to the
Kaufman hospital in July. The money raised at the gala will be used to pay for a fetal
monitor, labor & delivery beds and an infant warmer.
“The event would not have been possible without the tireless support of Norma Fortner
and the gala committee,” said Patsy Youngs, hospital president. “The gala funds
are helping us purchase some much-needed equipment. The community has always been there
supporting our needs and celebrating their local facility, but their contributions to the
gala have surpassed past support.”
