5 Texas Health Hospitals Receive Quality Improvement Awards|
ARLINGTON, Texas — Five Texas Health Resources hospitals earned recognition for quality improvement from the TMF® Health Quality Institute, the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization for Texas.
Texas Health Care Quality Improvement Awards honor Texas hospitals that have improved care related to heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care based on specific national measures. These clinical areas have been designated as national health care priorities by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and The Joint Commission.
The awards recognize hospitals that met improvement standards on a composite scoring system. Texas Health hospitals in Cleburne and Azle scored between 90 and 100 percent and earned the Award for Excellence. Texas Health hospitals in Hurst-Euless-Bedford, Arlington and Fort Worth scored between 80 and 89 percent and earned the Quality Improvement Achievement Award.
“These awards are another demonstration of our commitment to patient safety and to delivering quality health care to patients in the communities we serve,” said Michael J. Deegan, M.D., E.D.M., Texas Health chief clinical and quality officer.
Out of 227 participating Texas hospitals, 27 met the criteria and were presented with the Texas Health Care Quality Improvement Award of Excellence. Sixty-six were presented with the Quality Improvement Achievement Award.
Hospitals receiving these awards will be recognized at a special ceremony on Aug. 27 in Austin, Texas.
