Texas Health Denton Cardiac Rehabilitation Program Receives Certification
06/17/2009

DENTON, Texas — The American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) National Certification Committee recently announced that Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton has met the criteria for AACVPR Program Certification.

The goal of Program Certification is to assure the facility is meeting the essential standards of care described in the 4th Edition Guidelines for Cardiac Rehabilitation and Secondary Prevention Programs. Each program is reviewed by the AACVPR National Certification Committee and the AACVPR Board of Directors for final approval.

The Cardiac Rehab Department at Texas Health Denton is a specialized care unit for adult patients with coronary heart disease who have had heart attacks (myocardial infarctions), heart surgery, cardiomyopathy, CHF, transplant, heart catheterization and/or stable angina.

Cardiac Rehab offers specialized exercise programs that are monitored and medically supervised by a professional staff, including an exercise physiologist and cardiovascular RNs. The staff is trained in Advanced Cardiac Life Support under the American Heart Association guidelines.

“Cardiac rehab is an important step in a heart patient’s recovery, for many it gives them a new lease on life making them stronger both mentally and physically”, said Lanelle Noggler, Cardiac Rehabilitation program coordinator. “We provide our patients with education, a supervised exercise program, and the tools and support needed to make healthy lifestyle changes. Many of our patients continue with our maintenance program, making a difference in their overall fitness and well-being.”
