Texas Health Cleburne Begins Construction on Operating Room Expansion Project|
CLEBURNE, Texas — Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Cleburne has begun an $8 million operating room expansion project.
The construction project will add two operating rooms. After the expansion, the hospital will have five operating rooms. An additional 2,550 square-feet of space will be added to the existing hospital building.
“At Texas Health Cleburne, we are constantly looking at ways to better serve the needs of the residents of Johnson and the surrounding counties,” said Blake Kretz, FACHE, hospital president. “This is one way we are able to help patients stay close to home for their health care.”
The plan to expand the operating rooms has been in the works for several years.
“I am excited to be here to launch this expansion project,” said Sam Walls, chairman of the hospital’s board of directors. “We had great support from the community in raising money to help the hospital fund the expansion of the hospital. It is a true benefit for Cleburne to have more surgical options closer to home.”
Once the operating rooms are open in 2011, Texas Health Cleburne will be able to accommodate several hundred new surgical cases and an additional 300 endoscopy cases. Texas Health Cleburne administrators expect that the additional operating room capacity will help the hospital recruit other surgeons to the area. Volume could increase in subsequent years as more physicians are recruited.
“Having the advanced technology and increased operating room capacity is critical for surgeons on the medical staff to treat the increase in volume for the surrounding Johnson County community,” said Dr. Brad Harman, a surgeon on the hospital’s medical staff. “I look forward to the completion of the expansion project.”
