Harris Methodist Northwest Hospital Offers Healthcare Close to Home|
AZLE, Texas — With gas prices hitting record highs this summer, Americans are searching for penny-pinching strategies. Fifty-seven percent said they feel they have less money this summer compared to last summer for their vacation plans, according to a recent survey by AOL Travel and Zogby International.
Harris Methodist Northwest Hospital is encouraging residents of Northwest Tarrant County to save gas for summer trips by taking advantage of the hospital’s wide range of medical services close to home. The hospital offers quality healthcare at your fingertips with these services:
- Emergency care
- Cardiovascular care
- Stroke care
- Nutritional therapy
- Gastrointestinal and endoscopy care
- Full-service laboratory
- Surgery, both inpatient and outpatient
- Ear, nose and throat services
- Care for chronic, non-healing wounds
- Community education classes
- Rehabilitation and sports medicine
- Diagnostic imaging
With all the options available, there’s no reason to drive far for healthcare. The following strategies will also help you save gas and money:
Decide if the trip is really necessary. According to thefrugallife.com, every mile you drive your vehicle will cost you at least an average of 36 cents. Consider whether you can get your medical needs cared for close to home at Harris Methodist Northwest Hospital.
Plan ahead. Make an errand list according to location before you leave home, and avoid backtracking.
Pump at the right time. Kiplinger.com recommends the best time of day to fill up a tank is before dawn or late at night, when the sun and traffic volume are both down. Stations usually raise prices during the day, especially for rush hour.
Drive sensibly. Aggressive driving — speeding, rapid acceleration and braking — wastes gas, according to fueleconomy.gov. It can lower your gas mileage by 33 percent at highway speeds and by 5 percent around town.
Check your air filter. Thedailygreen.com says a clean air filter can improve gas mileage as much as 10 percent.
Fill your tank only when it is ¾ empty. According to the Personal Finance Management Guide, if you always top off your tank, you’re driving around with unnecessary weight in your car.
