Eating Disorder Program

Eating Disorder Program at Texas Health Springwood Hospital

Disordered eating arises from many cultural sources: Weight loss dieting, "healthy" eating taken too far, stress driven overeating, and all forms of negative body image. Our goal is that each client finds freedom in recovery through a dynamic, multidisciplinary treatment program.

Our intensive outpatient program for eating disorders is for individuals age 18 and older who need more structure than individual outpatient therapy can provide. This program may also be appropriate for the client who is transitioning back to work, school and family life from a higher level of care such as residential or step-down.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, psycho-education, skill development, supervised meals and promoting a healthy self concept are the key components of our program.

To participate in the intensive outpatient program, clients must be medically stable and have an outpatient treatment team consisting of a primary care physician and nutritionist. Medical clearance is required. In cases where there is no outpatient team, we will assist the client in creating one through referrals to practitioners in the community.

The program is provided at Texas Health Springwood Center Southlake.
