A July 20 article in the Dallas Business Journal on hospital performance rankings included comments by Dr. Mark Lester, clinical leader for the southeast zone of Texas Health Resources. The article mentioned that Texas Health Arlington Memorial, Texas Health Dallas, Texas Health Fort Worth and Texas Health Plano were named to U.S. News & World Report’s annual ranking of the nation’s Best Hospitals. It also noted that Texas Health Arlington Memorial, Texas Health Azle, Texas Health Cleburne, Texas Health HEB and Texas Health Southwest were named Top Performing Hospitals in Premier’s QUEST national quality improvement initiative.

Texas Health Resources in Fort Worth Business Press

The Fort Worth Business Press reported that Texas Health Resources had signed an agreement to participate in the work of the Joint Commission Center for Transforming Healthcare (CTH). In late June, Texas Health began working with five other health care organizations on a CTH project focused on the early identification and treatment of sepsis.

D Healthcare Daily included Texas Health news coverage in its July 20 edition:

  • Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital’s appointment of Dr. James H. Sammons Jr. as chief medical officer was featured.
  • Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth’s emergency department construction was mentioned in an article on ED overcrowding.
  • “Morning Rounds” briefs included Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton becoming one of the first hospitals in the country to receive Cycle IV Chest Pain Center Accreditation and Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Allen posting a “virtual tour” on its maternity services and amenities.

Texas Health Fort Worth on KXAS-TV

We anticipate a story on KXAS-TV (Ch. 5) about quadruplets born at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth. We expect a more detailed follow-on report early next week.

Texas Health Plano on featured a story about Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano earning Magnet redesignation. The story quoted Mike Evans, B.S.N., M.S.N., hospital president, Ray Kelly, R.N., M.S.N., chief nursing officer, and Kristin Whitehead, R.N., M.S.N., M.B.A., NE-BC, Magnet program director.

Texas Health Southwest Fort Worth on KDFW-TV

Dr. Frederick Carrington, an OB/GYN on the medical staff at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southwest Fort Worth, was featured in a news story on KDFW-TV (Ch. 4). Carrington recently delivered a baby, and more than 30 years ago, he also delivered both the mother and the father of the baby.

Texas Health Springwood on KRLD-AM

Barbara Alderete, clinical manager at Texas Health Springwood Hospital, was featured in a live interview on KRLD (1080 AM). The interview addressed signs and symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in the wake of the Colorado theater shooting.
