Springwood Hospital in Fort Worth Business Press

Charles Herlihy, M.D., medical director of adult behavioral health at Harris Methodist Springwood Hosptial, the mental health and addiction treatment facility at Harris Methodist HEB Hosptial, discusses economic stress in this week's Fort Worth Business Press. Springwood has seen a 60 percent increase in patients who say the economy as a major source of stress.


A story about a 4-year-old boy who saved a quarter from his allowance every week for almost a year, then donated more than $10 to Presbyterian Hospital of Plano, aired on WFAA-TV (Channel 8). The story included the boy and his mother presenting his savings to PHP's Jennifer Stripling, Child Life Specialist.

AMH Teddy Bear Clinic Featured

On Oct. 15, the Arlington Memorial Hospital Emergency Department hosted almost 150 kindergarteners from Speer Elementary, AMH's Adopt-a-School, for the 3rd annual Teddy Bear Clinic. Meg Rathbun, R.N., from the ED, coordinated the event and discussed the importance of early lessons in healthy lifestyles and safety. Camera crews from KTVT-TV (Channel 11) and KXAS-TV (Channel 5) were there. The Star-Telegram also photographed the event.

PHK in The Kaufman Herald

Douglas D. Hawthorne, CEO of Texas Health Resources, was quoted in The Kaufman Herald about Texas Health Resources’ Gift From the Heart AED donation effort and branding plans. Presbyterian Hospital of Kaufman’s Krista Baty, chief nursing executive, was featured in a photograph marking the AED donation to Kaufman High School Principal John Rouse.

The Kaufman Herald also quoted Pat Jackson, community outreach representative for Presbyterian Hospital of Kaufman, regarding a Pink Tea event that was held in Gun Barrel City.

HMWR in Cleburne Times-Review

Zina Fritz, an occupational therapist at Harris Methodist Walls Regional Hospital, was quoted in the Cleburne Times-Review regarding tips for parents to use to check to make sure their children’s backpack isn’t causing harm.

HMEC in Area-Wide Business & Commerce Journal

Harris Methodist Erath County Hospital’s new digital mammography machine was featured in the October edition of the Area-Wide Business & Commerce Journal. The story recognized HMEC President Christopher Leu, lead mammographer Sarah Mangrum, R.T. (R) (M) and Dr. Nanette Evans, radiology medical director.

PHD Podiatrist on KXAS-TV

Dr. Leon Brill, a podiatrist at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, was the medical expert in a KXAS-TV (Channel 5) story about the high-heel fashion trend in women's footwear. The shoes, some up to six inches tall, can cause chronic foot problems and lead to falls and ankle injuries.

PHD Internist in Detroit Free Press

Dr. Donna Casey, an internist at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, was quoted in the Detroit Free Press about the consequences of less-than-perfect health habits. The story, which originally appeared in Woman's Day magazine, has also been featured in newspapers in Colorado, Louisiana, Wisconsin and Michigan.
